Is this still on?

I built this blog in an afternoon more than five years ago, when the pandemic forced my office to close and the economic downturn threatened to close us for good. It’s not the most technically advanced project, and there's not really much content, but some of my friends like my silly posts and my girlfriend thinks I should use this to address you directly. So, here's a little bit about myself and why I'm excited to throw my hat in the ring for this opportunity (yes, I'm writing this post just for Ghost).

I first came across Ghost six or seven years ago, when a good friend of mine mentioned that he was moving his personal website from Squarespace to a new platform called Ghost. He cited some article that touted your use of Node.js and Handlebars to build a CMS that ran many, many times faster than Wordpress. My current company has a website department that uses Wordpress, and I've seen firsthand the bloat and slowdown that can arise, though I believe that has much more to do with design philosophy than the technology stack. Either way, as a JavaScript enthusiast, I was quite interested after poking around your Github repository for a bit. I ended up running his site with Ghost on a tiny EC2 instace for a year or two, until he switched to your managed platform.

But the coolest things I learned about your company is your sustainable non-profit model. Coming from a rather old-school company in the private sector, it is genuinely inspiring to see your published financial data, and to see your approach to measured growth that prioritizes your product, your users, and your team. I'm a quick learner who enjoys working with modern web technologies, and I believe my values align closely with what you have outlined on your website. I'd love to be a part of your team.

Thanks for taking the time to read this letter, and I hope to hear from you soon!
